When Republic Bank of Chicago offered us an opportunity to host a photo exhibit celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Beatles, you had better believe we twisted, shouted, and said “yes!” To get the community ready and excited for the exhibit — open from July 16–24 at Aspen Drive Library — we hosted two major Beatles programs in June and July that attracted by over 250 people! We thank everyone who came out to those events and invite all to join us for 4EVER4: 60th Anniversary of the Beatles Photo Exhibit.
60 Years of the Beatles
This fascinating presentation, by Dr. John F. Lyons, professor of History at Joliet Junior College and author of Joy and Fear: The Beatles, Chicago and the 1960s, examined the impact of the Beatles on the Chicago metropolitan area. The event was sponsored by Republic Bank of Chicago.
American English Beatles Tribute Band Concert
Through the “Norwegian Wood”, down “Penny Lane,” and from “Here, There, and Everywhere,” Beatles fans from “Across the (Cook Memorial Public Library District) Universe” came together to “Twist and Shout” at this historic tribute concert with American English. It was a “Good Night” for everyone. A special thank you to our concert sponsor, Friends of the Cook Memorial Public Library District, and the Vernon Hills Park District Sullivan Center.
4EVER4: 60th Anniversary of the Beatles Photo Exhibit
July 16–24 at Aspen Drive Library
John, Paul, George, and Ringo were together as the Beatles, as we know them, for only seven years, seven months, and 24 days for a total of 2,793 days. Within those 2,793 days, this iconic group began transforming our culture, dress, music, and lives, continuing to do so in 2022.
All ages are invited to drop in to the exhibit anytime the library is open to relive or learn about the Beatlemania and beyond, make special swag buttons, and snap a photo recreating the iconic Abbey Road album cover. A special thank you to Republic Bank of Chicago for presenting this celebratory exhibit.
On opening day, come for the photographs and stay for a craft project, coloring sheets, a lyric decoding game, and a story walk in the library.
See you there, Beatles fans!
We all have 1 favorite Beatle, yet we’ll always remember the 4 Beatles together forever, or 4EVER4.
