The ’80s Are Back! And So Are Synths!

From Youtube to TikTok to SoundCloud, it seems that everybody wants to be the next hit musical artist. Trouble is that the royalty free beats and sounds provided by online sources all sound generic and songs end up sounding the same. If you’ve ever been interested in creating your own original music, keep reading about the newest addition to our Digital Studios!

Korg Minilogue Polyphonic Analog Synthesizer

The Korg Minilogue Synthesizer looks like a strange keyboard with a lot of switches and knobs, but it doesn’t create piano-key sounds, it creates synth sounds and patterns. With the resurgence of Kate Bush’s 1985 hit “Running Up That Hill,” you might have become familiar with synthesizer sounds. Virtually any sound can be replicated on a synthesizer, including instruments such as a violin or drums, which makes it a really versatile tool for creating music.

At both the Aspen and Cook Park location, Digital Studio 1 has instructions for how each section of switches and knobs works along with how to record in Logic Pro. Although the synthesizer looks daunting, you need absolutely no prior knowledge of synths or any instrument to create cool sound patterns.

To book an appointment for the Digital Studio, go to the library’s website and click Digital Studios under “Quick Links.” From there, choose the studio you’d like to book at either location. If you’d like to book a one-on-one appointment, head to the right side of the Digital Studios page and click “Studio Appointments” The Korg Synthesizer is only available in Digital Studio 1 at both locations.
