Stuck in your genealogy research??

It happens to everyone!

At our October Genealogy Networking Group, we talked about some ways to get unstuck!

First, you can find a book and learn more about the area, its history and geography. After this library, you can try Arlington Heights Public Library or even Newberry Library.

A great site for finding old county histories, printed family histories and other gems is www.books.google.com which continues to scan and share books which are out of print and even those which aren’t. Often books from Google can be ordered via Interlibrary Loan.

Attend a genealogy webinar from the comfort of your own home and computer—for FREE!

Legacy Family Tree has a wide variety of options to choose from. (free if you watch them as scheduled or for a specific time afterward, then there is a charge to watch archived classes.)

Family Search (our friends the Mormons) has a great Learning Center which offers courses on anything you can imagine for FREE. Don’t miss their incredible informative Wikis!
YouTube has a wide variety of FREE webinars for genealogists.

Illinois State Genealogical Society offers free monthly webinars (free if you watch them according to their schedule. Archived webinars are available for a fee to non-members.)

Attend a conference, workshop, or genealogical society meeting.

Sometimes, you just need some new ideas or a new piece of information to help you think about your problem from a different angle. If you try one of these methods and you get un-stuck, let us know and we’ll do the happy dance with you!
