Our One Book, One Community program kicked off Saturday at both Cook and Aspen Libraries, where we gave out 150 copies of Stolen Beauty by Laurie Lico Albanese.
This is the second year we joined forces with Vernon Area Public Library and Indian Trails Public Library to invite our patrons to read the same book. The three library districts have put together a variety of programs, film screenings and book discussions related to Stolen Beauty. Laurie Lico Albanese will discuss her book and sign copies at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at Vernon Hills High School. If you are interested in registering for the author visit or learning about our programs, please visit 1book.org. We also have beautiful booklets that list all the programs that you can pick up at our reference desks.
Many thanks to our generous sponsors, including The Friends of Cook Memorial Public Library District, which donated all the books. Our patrons enjoyed delicious refreshments, thanks to Hansa Coffee, Lee Donuts, Trader Joe’s and La Luz Bakery. We appreciate their support of One Book, One Community.
If you didn’t get a copy of the book at our open house, we also have copies of the book available to check out at the library and online. Book club copies are available to request for your club.
We hope to see you at one or more of our programs!
