Yes, that’s right, you can now use AncestryLibrary Edition from home! During the corona virus emergency, while Cook Library is closed to the public, we are able to give you access to Ancestry LE which was previously only available in the library.
Just go to the Research tab on the Cook Library’s web page and click on the link for AncestryLibraryEdition. You will be asked to enter your Cook Library card number and then you will have access to AncestryLibraryEdition just as if you were in the library.
Don’t know where to start? Try looking up your ancestors in every census they would have been enumerated in. Look carefully at each census page for clues such as immigration or naturalization dates, second marriages, or in-laws. Try looking in the yearbooks collection for more recent relatives. (I found my dad’s high school graduation program in his yearbook and discovered that he gave a speech. Who knew? He never told me!)
In addition to all the United States information that’s available in AncestryLibraryEdition, you can also find international records. If you have English, Irish, German, Swedish or other European ancestors, you may be able to find records relating to them.
