Bus Trip to the Newberry Library

Attention Genealogists!
On Sale Now!

Get your tickets now for the Newberry Library Bus Trip on November 9. Cost is $32 for transportation by mini-coach bus, plus an optional $6.50 for a Picnic Basket sack lunch. Tickets can be purchased at the Cook Library Welcome Desk or the Aspen Drive Library reference desk. We will take cash or personal checks.

The bus will depart from Cook Park Library at 8 a.m. and then swing by Aspen Drive Library before heading to Chicago. You will have the entire day dedicated to research; we will leave the Newberry at 4 and return to Libertyville and Vernon Hills by about 6 p.m.

The Newberry Library in Chicago is one of the Midwest’s premier genealogy research libraries. Their collection includes maps, city directories, newspaper microfilm and books galore. Take your family research to the next level and spend a day at the Newberry with fellow genealogists.

We will also present a Prepare for Researching at the Newberry Library class on Thursday, October 12 at 7 p.m. at the Aspen Drive Library. Our own Ellen Jennings and Sonia Schoenfield will show you all you need to know to make researching at the Newberry Library a success. You will learn how to make an online account, search the catalog, and request books that will be ready for the day you visit. Register for this class online or by calling 847-362-2330.

If you have any questions about the bus trip or the preparation class, contact Sonia Schoenfield at the Cook Memorial Public Library District.
