American Ancestors Free for a Week

American AncestorsWe just got word that the database American Ancestors will be available for free now until April 13. American Ancestors contains records provided by the New England Historic and Genealogical Society, the oldest genealogy society in the United States. Usually a “free access” only allows access to selected parts of the database; this offer is unusual in that the entire holdings of American Ancestors is available for the next week.

What’s the big deal? If you have ancestors from New England or New York, you will want to take advantage of this offer. American Ancestors has Bible and cemetery records from New England towns dating from the 1800s or earlier. Many books, including biographies and family genealogies, have been digitized and are available as well.

Make sure you take American Ancestors for a spin today. And if you’d like to continue your research in American Ancestors after next week, come to the library and use our subscription. It’s always free!
