Interlibrary Loan

If Cook Library doesn't have something you want, we can still help you in the following ways.

  1. LINKin - we've partnered with other libraries in the North Suburban Area to share items quickly and easily.
  2. Interlibrary Loan - obtain items from other libraries in the contiguous 48 states.
  3. Reciprocal Borrowing - visit other Illinois libraries and borrow directly from them. Registration is required at each library. We suggest you contact the library before your visit to learn their registration requirements and lending policies.
  4. Purchase Request - suggest that we purchase the item for our collection.

LINKin- our partner library system

LINKin is a partnership between eight large North suburban libraries.

  • Cook Memorial Public Library
  • Skokie Public Library
  • Arlington Heights Memorial Library
  • Deerfield Public Library
  • Gail Borden Public Library
  • Naperville Public Library
  • Waukegan Public Library
  • Elmhurst Public Library

If an item is not owned by the Cook Memorial Public Library District, but is available at one of LINKin’s partner libraries, you can request the item through the LINKin catalog and it will be sent to your pickup location within several days. You will be notified by phone or email when the item is ready for pickup. LINKin requests are generally processed more quickly than Interlibrary Loan requests.
