Part-Time Children’s Department Shelver

Cook Park Library in Libertyville

Cook Memorial Public Library District is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented individual to shelve materials at the Cook Park Library in Libertyville.

Hours: Approximately 12 hours per week, including Sundays (11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) and some evenings            


  • Sorts and loads materials onto carts and shelves in proper location
  • Uses computer to print lists of requested items
  • Retrieves items from shelves to fill reserves
  • Shifts collections as needed
  • Shelf reads, ensuring materials are in correct call number order


  • High school diploma
  • Detail oriented and good organizational skills
  • Ability to alphabetize and place items in numeric order
  • Basic computer skills
  • Read small print on book spine labels
  • Communicate effectively with patrons and co-workers
  • Must be able to push a fully loaded (up to 100 pounds) double-sided book truck and operate automated equipment in the workplace as required with or without accommodation
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach in order to move materials from between 3” and 60” above the floor
  • Requires a full range of body motion, including sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time with or without accommodation

Pay Scale: $9.40 per hour
