Technology Services & Support Coordinator

The Cook Memorial Public Library District is seeking a friendly, tech-savvy and customer-service focused person to provide training and guidance on the use of the Library’s Digital Studio software and equipment, maintain the Digital Studio and circulating equipment, assist the Library’s IT contractor with Library computers/equipment, and promote technical competency among staff and patrons.  

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week; will include some evenings and weekends.

Requirements:

  • Conduct training workshops for staff and patrons on various technologies offered in the Digital Studios.
  • Maintain Digital Studio equipment in good working order and ascertain that all related software programs are current and up to date.
  • Provide hands on assistance to patrons using the Digital Studios.
  • Provide computer/printer/infrastructure troubleshooting assistance to the Library’s IT contractor.
  • Provide IT support to staff, including coordinating staff requests for IT assistance.
  • Together with the Emerging Technologies Librarian, identify new technologies in order to update and expand offerings in the Digital Studios.
  • Schedule and supervise the activities of the Library’s part-time Technology Associates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working with digital media technology and software in a library or similar environment.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in training users on digital media equipment, software and tools in a library or similar environment, including the development of training materials.
  • Exceptional familiarity with new technologies as they relate to digital collections.
  • Strong knowledge of popular digital and electronic devices and trends.
  • A demonstrated commitment to excellence in customer service.
  • Interest in the knowledge, skills, and new techniques needed to provide superior library service to patrons.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer aptitude, including proficiency in MS Office software products: Excel, Access, and Word.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite 6, Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro X strongly preferred.

Salary: $44,000

High School Page Internship

Cook Memorial Public Library District is seeking a friendly, responsible high school student to work in the Circulation Department at Cook Park and Aspen Drive libraries.

Hours:

  • Approximately 8–10 hours per week with evenings and weekend availability required.
  • Length of position coincides with school year and will vary, possibly continuing into summer.

Responsibilities:

  • Phoning patrons regarding reserve items
  • Working the Circulation Desk, checking materials in and out to library patrons
  • Shelving items and reserves
  • Providing assistance to patrons using copy and self-checkout machines

Requirements:

  • Will be enrolled as a Junior or Senior High School Student in the fall of 2015
  • Volunteer work in a library desirable but not mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable using computers
  • Detail-oriented
  • Good organizational skills
  • Reliable and willing to fill in extra hours when necessary
  • Must be able to train and work at both Cook Park and Aspen Drive libraries

Rate of Pay:
$8.99  per hour
