Part-Time Homebound Associate- Outreach Department (at Aspen Drive Library)

Cook Memorial Public Library District is seeking a customer service-oriented individual to assist with homebound delivery service to individuals and senior residential facilities throughout the library district.

Hours:
8-10 hours per week
Monday mornings, Tuesday (flexible hours), Wednesday 10am-3pm

Duties:

  • Deliver library materials to individual homebound patrons and senior facilities
  • Use circulation, catalog, inter-library loan, and readers’ advisory aids to identify requested materials, place holds, and circulate materials
  • Prepare and present programs at local senior residential facilities

Qualifications:

  • A courteous and friendly demeanor
  • An ability to set priorities and focus attention to detail
  • Dependability
  • An ability to communicate well in English

Requirements:

  • Enjoy interacting with the public
  • Communicate effectively with patrons, particularly older adults
  • Must be able to lift/move library materials up to 30 pounds
  • Basic computer skills
  • Drive own vehicle to make deliveries, with a valid driver’s license and proof of liability auto insurance
  • Bend, stretch, kneel, push and pull loaded book carts with or without accommodation
  • Perform other administrative duties, as assigned

Salary:    $12.03 per hour

Technology Associate (non-exempt)

Cook Memorial Public Library District has two part-time positions open for tech-savvy, service-oriented, information technology associates.

Duties include: troubleshooting staff/patron technical issues (i.e., printers, computer etc.); assisting staff with computer set-up for programs, classes or public room reservations; responding to patron and staff technology assistance requests; supporting IT contractor with projects and development.

Hours:
Two Positions total 23 hours – can alternate shifts
Monday through Thursday 6 – 9 pm
Saturday 9 – 4 pm
Sunday 1 -5 pm except July and August

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of computers, printers, Internet, web browsers, and common computer software, including Microsoft Office
  • High school diploma
  • College/technical training computer science highly desirable
  • Ability to interact patiently and pleasantly with people of all ages
  • Experience with Windows operating environment required. Experience with MAC operating environment preferred

Requirements:
Physical requirements include: speaking, hearing, vision and keyboarding ability sufficient to adequately perform the job. Communicate in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to handle urgent situations in a calm, capable manner.  Must be able to work at both Aspen Drive and Cook Park Libraries and occasionally at some events outside of the library. Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds, lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally with or without accommodation.

Pay Scale: $14.50
