Technical Services Associate

Cook Memorial Public Library District has a part-time (non-exempt) position open for a Technical Services Associate.

Hours: 12 hours per week
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to noon


  • Sort the Library’s mail and deliver it to the appropriate locations.
  • Receive and unpack deliveries.
  • Prepare material for withdrawal.
  • Assist other Technical Services and Interlibrary Loan staff by providing backup support for planned absences. This involves performing basic, essential duties of a variety of positions including Periodicals, Interlibrary Loan, Processing and Acquisitions.

High school degree. Good organizational skills, thoroughness, attention to detail, and familiarity with computers required.  Must appreciate variety and have the ability to set priorities in a busy environment.  Some knowledge of general Library procedures is helpful.  Need to be available some Thursdays to cover preplanned vacation days.


  • Able to lift/move library materials up to 50 pounds and operate automated equipment in the workplace as required with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to bend, stoop and reach in order to move materials by hand, rolling carts, and pack and unpack crates.
  • Ability to push carts loaded with up to 10 boxes.

Pay Scale:  $12.31 per hour
