The library offers resources to help children get ready to read. Because learning to read begins years before children start school, it’s never too early to bring children to the library and participate in fun, simple early literacy activities.

Early Learning Center at Cook Park Library
When visiting Cook Park Library with toddlers, be sure to stop in the Early Learning Center (ELC), a special space with activities, toys, and books that engage children. (ages 0-3 yrs)
Play and Learn at Aspen Drive Library
On Saturday mornings, drop in to the Aspen Drive Library Family Play and Learn Center to explore a rotating selection of engaging toys and activities for children of all ages. (ages 0-5 yrs)
Participate in lively story times designed to meet the interests and learning abilities of children ages 0 to 5 years. All-ages family storytimes are also scheduled regularly. Please see our schedule for times and locations.

Watch the library calendar for programs to help parents and caregivers provide children with easy, every day early literacy activities.
Check out one of our Early Literacy Kits, offering a book and materials such as puppets or puzzles accompanied by a sheet of simple, fun ways to engage children in learning activities. (ages 2-5 yrs)
Connect to favorite books from Scholastic. Familiar picture books are paired with informative nonfiction books for children in grades preK-2. Includes read-along, video versions, and additional resources to encourage exploration.
