Shining the spotlight on: Reference and Genealogy librarian Sonia Schoenfield, who gives us the scoop on family history resources for you to discover in Cook Park Library’s Lower Level:

Come to the Genealogy Collection to find books to help you trace your family history, whether your ancestors are from Ireland, Poland, Germany, or somewhere in the U.S. Check out our three circulating genealogy magazine titles with all the latest news and tips. You can also order microfilm from the vault in Salt Lake City and view it on one of our two digital microfilm readers. Records viewed on these readers can be emailed or printed.

Spend some time in the Genealogy Collection and you might find your ancestors in books that you would never find online. We specialize in New England genealogy and have a great partnership with the DAR. We collect printed passenger lists of Germans, English, Russian, Italian, Czech immigrants and more. We have some local records as well, such as early Lake County births, marriages, deaths, and Lake County cemetery indexes.

Take a trip to the Lower Level at Cook Park Library and discover our Genealogy Collection. For help using the collection, call 847-362-2330 X1134 to set up an appointment with one of our genealogy specialists.
