Americans with Disabilities Act Compliance Policy

Article I General Guidelines

The Library District complies with the Americans With Disabilities Act in its entirety and prohibits unlawful discrimination in its operations based upon disability (Public Law 101-336).

The Board has reviewed the District Self-Evaluation Report (dated

September 1999 and available for public inspection) and has directed the staff to take the corrective action specified in the report to improve the access to the Library by disabled patrons and employees. The resulting plan is dated November 1999.

Article II Grievances

The Library Director or designee will act as the ADA Compliance Officer for the District. Any grievances with respect to the District’s compliance with the ADA shall be filed with the ADA Compliance Officer and will be handled in the following manner:

    1. The grievance must be filed in writing within thirty (30) days of an alleged Violation. (The staff can assist if necessary);
    2. The ADA Compliance Officer shall acknowledge receipt of all grievances within ten (10) working days;
    3. Within thirty (30) days from the date that the ADA Compliance Officer acknowledges receipt of a complaint, she/he shall properly investigate the complaint and will communicate to the complainant what action, if any, will be taken.

To the extent that any existing policies, procedures or guidelines of the Library District are inconsistent with this policy, this policy shall prevail. This policy is intended to supersede Board Resolution 1991/92-2.
