Cook with Cook Memorial

The Cook Memorial Public Library District is proud to unveil our new cookbook, A Library of Recipes: Cook Park and Aspen Drive cooking together with recipes generously supplied by you, our wonderful patrons.
Please join us for an evening of sampling, chef demos and prizes! Chef Michael Maddox formerly of Le Titi de Paris will show us how to make dazzling holiday canapes. Chef Jean-Marc Loustaunau from Cafe Pyrenees will demonstrate his silky smooth creme brulee recipe, which can be found in the cookbook.
Cookbooks will be available for purchase for $15. Proceeds will help us continue to provide computer classes, author visits, summer reading programs, enhancements to our collections and more. These beautiful books make excellent holiday gifts and for each book purchased, your name will be entered in a drawing for great prizes.

Friends Needed
The Friends of the Cook Memorial Public Library District are actively seeking volunteers committed to supporting the library through fundraising, programming, and raising awareness of library services. The Friends underwrite the costs of the library district's reading programs (the costs of supplies and prizes) and pay for equipment not covered in the district's budget. Here are some examples of what donations from the Friends have provided:
$10,000 toward 2003 Bookmobile
Chairs
Aquarium
Tinted window film
Document shredder
Patio for library staff
Picnic tables for patio
Shelving
Bookdrops
Laminator
Membership in the Friends costs just $5.00 per year. If you would like to join this group of motivated advocates who support the library district and the communities it serves, please send an email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

TryIt! Illinois
During October and November the State Library of Illinois is providing access to a wide variety of databases. This is a wonderful opportunity to use electronic resources the library doesn't subscribe to, and it's free. Go to TryIt! Illinois to see the list of databases available.
We are not permitted to put the login and password information online, but you can ask for it by visiting or calling the Adult Reference Desk (847-362-2330).
